Hope everyone had an amazing holiday weekend! Dave and I ate a very filling dinner with family at Holly's Mandarin Restaurant on Piedmont Avenue. It's one of our favorite Chinese spots with their delicious food and friendly service. Afterwards, we went to Bay Street Emeryville to watch the new Star Wars film, Rogue One. It was my first time catching a flick on Christmas Day, and I think I'll do it again next year since we pretty much had the whole theater to ourselves. :)
Christmas came on a Sunday this year, so both of us had Monday off. What better way to spend it than blogging right? Today, I wore this long beige coat from Target paired with a knitted cream sweater and some medium blue jeans. This outfit was inspired by fashion trends I came across during my trip to Seoul, Korea. I remember noticing how large, shapeless coats were quite the trend among young women there. This was very strange for me since most women's coat styles in the U.S tend to cinch in at the waist to create an hour-glass shape. In Seoul, women balance the coat's bulkiness with form fitting garnments underneathe (such as a sweater dress with black tights) which results in a sophisticated, refined look.

Winter is one of my favorite seasons of the year, since colder temperatures mean I get to whip out all my big coats, sweaters, and blanket scarves for some creative layering. While assembling today's outfit, I realized the color scheme reminded me of Squall's costume design from the video game, Final Fantasy VIII. This was completely unintentional of course, but wow! Major nostalgia vibes for us 90's kids.
